Gaining traffic to your site is a big problem for most people when they start out. You have your website or blog and of course you want to showcase your hard work. So how do we bring people to look? Well there are many different ways for us to achieve this and in this post I will showcase you just a few of them.

These I think are the most effective but you can always look, search and try some different methods yourself. What works for me may not work for you. So give them all a go, they can only improve your traffic.

Write content that rocks the socks off

Writing contents for your blog will certainly bring in more traffic for you. Although this will not increase your traffic over night but can bring visitors back to your site if you write unique and compelling articles.

Professional bloggers are great when it comes to writing content. If you take a look at the leading bloggers in your niche, you can see that every blog posts is excellent. The reason behind this is that the bloggers have been creating content for a while. For a beginner blogger content creation can be difficult.

As long as your enjoying what you are writing, you will naturally become better without even knowing it.

Keep updating content on your website
Search engines love new content, you will also rank higher if your site is constantly updated. This tells the search engines that you are active and are showing new articles and information. Again this is not a fast process but can benefit you in the long run.
Write and submit press releases
These are a great way to create backlinks which search engines love! Here are a few to get you started:
  1. Free-Press-Release.com –  The best part of using it is that you can place banners on the press release that will point to your website. The paid service offered by this website has better ranking and many SEO benefits.
  2. Free-Press-Box.com –  Submitting your press release on to this site is really easy. It accepts free submissions as well as paid submissions.
  3. Free-Press-Index.com –  This PR site allows for instant submissions for free with inbound links to your site in place. For the paid service, they charge close $60, and distribute the release among 250,000 subscribers and journalists.
Encourage readers to comment on your blog posts
This will show that you have an active community, and people are interested in what you are writing. Therefore more active content and higher rankings.

Offer something for free

This can be in the shape of an e-book or any other service related that your users are interested in. It will attract readers. I am currently planning and writing an e-book for my readers, this is a great way to offer something in return for your readers.
Using social media

Everybody uses some sort of social media today, whether its Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn etc. This is a great way to take advantage of using these to promote your site. With social media giant Facebook with nearly 1 billion users that is 1/7 of the population on the website. This is a very strong argument for being on this craze.

1 Billion people can’t be wrong about how powerful it is for getting the word out about your business or hobbies. 50% of active users log on to Facebook in any given day. This is incredible! Just think that if you portray your niche or business correctly then you can easily get your word spread out there.

Even if you have generated a great deal of traffic to your blog or your aiming to grow your traffic. You always looking for ways to grow your traffic. Even more so, you are looking for qualified traffic to your site. (People who are interested in the content you write).

LinkedIn is a tremendous way to generate a lot of free and organic traffic to your blog. Although LinkedIn is great for job seekers during economic climate, it is a lot more than that. Individuals and companies are achieving more professional goals than you can really think of.

As long as your careful about how you promote the products or in another way, clever about how you go about advertising them. You can make a great income. There are blogs out there that make over £10,000 a month just through affiliates.

If you have a lot of traffic you may want to think about cost per click advertising (CPC). Doesn't earn you a lot of money through one click but can make the difference if you have 2000 page views a day.

    Become a freelance designer

Create websites or logos and showcase them to the world through your online portfolio. Build a client list and create a database of clients (Potential and Converted) to email every month or two about your services and offers. This takes time to get up and running but in the end you can earn a respected amount and make a great name for yourself.

    Sell your stock photos

For all you photographers out there, this is a great way of making money. People search for stock photos for their websites and other things by keyword search, your work will be the same as any others and wait for the money to pour in. You wont really make a lot of money per sale of photo but having a great number of photos submitted can only benefit you.

    Sell your articles

This is for all you writers out there. Lots of businesses, blogs and websites need outstanding written content. Though you wont make much to start off with, learning and gaining experience can only mean that you can charge more for your work. Start off by submitting articles that are 200-300 words long and submit them to pay per post sites that are all over the internet. You may just make a name for yourself that way.
